Leave your bandage on for a maximum of 4 days and a minimum of overnight. Showering with the bandages is fine, as they are water proof, but still avoid prolonged exposure of water like a bath or swim.
Remove Bandage. When you are ready to take off your bandage, run hot water over it for 10-15 minutes and pull the bandage off. If you are having difficulty you can use a little witch hazel to help remove any tricky residue.
Wash your tattoo. Rinse your tattoo with water as hot as you can stand, then gently wash with your fingers and some unscented soap. Pat it dry with a clean towel. Don’t scrub it with anything other than your fingers. Continue to wash it a minimum once a day, until the tattoo is fully healed. It is hard to over wash it, so remember to give it a clean if you have gotten sweaty or dirty throughout your day.
Moisturize. The key with moisturizing is less is more. Listen to your body and only moisturize when it is too flaky or too itchy. You can’t under moisturize in most cases, but you definitely can over moisturize. Your tattoo needs to dry out to be able to heal in a healthy way, so thin layers and sparsely throughout the day is your best bet. Only use unscented moisturizers.
Don’t pick at or scratch your new tattoo! It is best to just leave it alone and let your body do all the work.
Avoid soaking your tattoo. Getting it wet is fine, as you need to be able to clean your new tattoo. But with, or without your bandage avoid submerging it in water.

Sunscreen. The sun will be your tattoo’s worst enemy. Wait until it has done healing, but to keep your tattoo looking fresh for as long as possible consider covering it up or putting on sunscreen when you have a big day in the sun.
